INVERSION व्युत्क्रम अलंकार
या अलंकारात काव्यात्मक परिणाम साधण्यासाठी नेहेमीच्या वाक्यातील शब्दांच्या क्रमात बदल केलेला असतो.
The words in a sentence are not in the correct prose order.
The normal order of the words is suitably rearranged for the sake of emphasis or rhyme. When the prose order of the words in the sentence is not correct, the figure of speech is Inversion.
Inversion is a reversal of nominal word order especially the placement of a verb ahead of the subject(subject - verb Inversion)
Examples:
1. Slowly flowed the river.
The correct order is 'The river flowed slowly.'
2. Ten thousand saw I at a glance.
The normal order of words would have been - I saw ten thousand at a glance.
3. Up went the balloon.
The correct order is 'The balloon went up.'
4. At once a mouse in the corner appeared.
The correct order is 'A mouse appeared in the corner at once.'
5. So down he fell.
The words are not in the correct prose order. The correct prose order is 'So he fell down.'
6. So up he rose
The words are not in the correct prose order. The correct prose order is 'So he rose up.'
7. Everyday I am teased.
The correct order is ' I am teased everyday.'
Here are some example sentences using inversion:
Never have I seen such a beautiful sunset.
Not only is he talented, but he is also hardworking.
Rarely do we encounter such kindness.
Little did she know what the future held.
At no point did he give up on his dreams.
Only after years of practice did she master the skill.
Under no circumstances will we tolerate dishonesty.
Not until the last moment did he reveal his true intentions.
Seldom do we find such dedication in today's world.
