Once an old man was invited to a party. He was a good-looking person and his face was still free of wrinkles. But his hair and beard were grey and showed his age. So he decided to dye them black.
However, as he had no time to dye both the hair and the beard, he decided to dye only the beard. "I shall wear a turban," he said, "and no one will see my hair"
At the party, his fine appearance attracted a lot of attention. He looked quite young with his shining black beard and beautiful Yellow turban. The young men envied him and the women were eager to talk to him.
Then a terrible thing happened. He threw his head back to laugh at a joke and the turban fell off. At once his hair came in view of all. It was as grey as ever. The people saw it and burst into laughter. "How has your hair turned grey while your beard is still so black?" they said.
The old man had a ready wit. "That's only natural," he said. "After all, the hair on my head is twenty years older than the hair of my beard!"
