MY TRAVEL BY SEA माझा सागरी प्रवास

     In last November, father decided to go Deogad. गेल्या नोव्हेंबरमध्ये वडिलांनी देवगडला जायचे ठरवले. It is our native place. ते आमचे मूळ ठिकाण आहे. Father decided to take us all with him because some religious rites were to be performed by us at the temple of Dirbadevi there. तिथल्या दिर्बादेवीच्या मंदिरात काही धार्मिक संस्कार करायचे असल्याने वडिलांनी आम्हा सर्वांना सोबत घेण्याचे ठरवले.

     We couldn't get reservation on the bus. आम्हाला बसचे आरक्षण मिळू शकले नाही. So father decided that we should go by sea. त्यामुळे वडिलांनी ठरवले की आपण समुद्रमार्गे जावे. Travel by ship was a novel thing for us. जहाजाने प्रवास करणे ही आमच्यासाठी नवीन गोष्ट होती. Father booked the tickets for Ragini. वडिलांनी रागिणीसाठी तिकीट काढले. This ship sails to Deogad and comes back to Mumbai twice a week. हे जहाज देवगडला जाते आणि आठवड्यातून दोनदा मुंबईला येते. 

      Father, mother, my granny, my sister and I left Mumbai on 12th November. वडील, आई, माझी आजी, माझी बहीण आणि मी १२ नोव्हेंबरला मुंबई सोडले. We took a taxi to Bhau's Ferry Wharf. आम्ही भाऊच्या फेरी घाटापर्यंत टॅक्सी पकडली. At the entrance, we showed our tickets and got on to the ship's gangway. प्रवेशद्वारावर, आम्ही आमची तिकिटे दाखवली आणि जहाजाच्या गॅंगवेवर चढलो. Our reservation was in the upper class. आमचे आरक्षण वरच्या वर्गात होते. We had one fairly big cabin entirely for ourselves. आमच्याकडे स्वतःसाठी एक मोठी केबिन होती. The ship gave the siren. जहाजाने सायरन दिला. The gangway was removed.  गँगवे काढण्यात आला. The anchor was lifted. नांगर उचलला गेला. And as soon as the second siren sounded, the ship steamed out of the harbour exactly at 10 a.m. आणि दुसरा सायरन वाजताच, जहाज बंदरातून अगदी सकाळी 10 वाजता बाहेर आले.  I was thrilled. मी रोमांचित झालो.

     Soon the shore became invisible. लवकरच किनारा अदृश्य झाला. There was water everywhere around us. आमच्या आजूबाजूला सगळीकडे पाणीच पाणी होतं. The foam seemed to be dancing on the rushing waves. उसळणाऱ्या लाटांवर फेस नाचताना दिसत होता. But suddenly I began to feel giddy. पण अचानक मला चक्कर येऊ लागली. It was sea-sickness. तो सागरी आजार होता. So I did not eat anything for some time. त्यामुळे काही वेळ काही खाल्लं नाही. I got over the sea-sickness before long. मी काही काळापूर्वीच सागरी आजारावर मात केली. Then we played cards and sang songs. मग आम्ही पत्ते खेळले आणि गाणी गायली. We stood on the deck in the evening and watched the beautiful sunset from the moving ship. संध्याकाळी डेकवर उभे राहून चालत्या जहाजातून सुंदर सूर्यास्त पाहिला.

      The ship reached Deogad the next morning at 8am. दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी ८ वाजता जहाज देवगडला पोहोचले. As there is no clock, the ship anchored at some distance from the shore. घड्याळ नसल्याने जहाज किनाऱ्यापासून काही अंतरावर नांगरले. We got down to the lower part of the ship. आम्ही जहाजाच्या खालच्या भागात उतरलो. From there, we had to take a small boat. तिथून छोटी होडी घ्यावी लागणार होती. It was rather difficult, but the crew of the ship helped us. हे ऐवजी कठीण होते, परंतु जहाजाच्या क्रूने आम्हाला मदत केली. Then the boat took us to the shore and thus ended my first sea voyage. मग बोटीने आम्हाला किनाऱ्यावर नेले आणि अशा प्रकारे माझा पहिला सागरी प्रवास संपला. It was a memorable experience. तो एक संस्मरणीय अनुभव होता.
