How I celebrated Diwali festival

     My favourite festival is Diwali. माझा आवडता सण म्हणजे दिवाळी. Every year, we go to my maternal grandparents' house in Deogad for Diwali. दरवर्षी आम्ही दिवाळीसाठी देवगडला माझ्या आजी-आजोबांच्या घरी जातो. This year, we went there to celebrate Diwali with my grandparents. यावर्षी आम्ही आजी-आजोबांसोबत दिवाळी साजरी करण्यासाठी तिथे गेलो होतो  My cousins from Goa joined us there. गोव्यातील माझे चुलत भाऊ तिथे आम्हाला सामील झाले. Grandpa and Grandma lived in an old cottage that has a garden around it. आजोबा आणि आजी एका जुन्या घरात राहत होते ज्याच्या आजूबाजूला बाग आहे. 

     We reached their place at 9 pm. रात्री ९ वाजता आम्ही त्यांच्या ठिकाणी पोहोचलो. Grandpa and Grandma welcomed us. आजोबा आणि आजीने आमचे स्वागत केले. Grandma prepared plenty of Diwali sweets for us. आजीने आमच्यासाठी भरपूर दिवाळी मिठाई तयार केली.  They were ready even before we reached Deogad. आम्ही देवगडला पोहोचण्यापूर्वीच ते तयार झाले होते. Grandpa bought us lots of fireworks. आजोबांनी आम्हाला भरपूर फटाके विकत घेतले. We did not burst fireworks that would have made too much noise. आम्ही फटाके फोडले नाहीत ज्याने जास्त आवाज होईल. My grandparents say that Diwali is a festival of light, not of noise. माझे आजी-आजोबा म्हणतात की दिवाळी हा प्रकाशाचा सण आहे, गोंगाटाचा नाही.

     During the Diwali week, my cousin Om and I got up early in the morning to light the lamps. दिवाळीच्या आठवड्यात, माझा मामे भाऊ ओम आणि मी पहाटे उठून दिवे लावायचो. In the evening, it was our job to draw rangoli outside the house. संध्याकाळी घराबाहेर रांगोळी काढण्याचे काम असायचे. We wore new clothes everyday. आम्ही रोज नवीन कपडे घालायचो. We ate a lot and played many games. आम्ही खूप खाल्ले आणि बरेच खेळ खेळलो. We stayed there for a week. आम्ही तिथे आठवडाभर राहिलो. We returned Mumbai with sweet memories. गोड आठवणी घेऊन आम्ही मुंबईला परतलो.
