MY DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

April 9 is my elder daughter's birthday. After discussing with my husband, I decided to celebrate that day in a fitting manner because she was ranked first in her V standard examination. Two of my friends came to help me. In the morning, we cleaned up the house. We decorated our living room with multicoloured balloons. We also used beautiful vases with neatly arranged flowers inside them. We brought a big table and placed it at the centre of the room.Chairs were arranged around it.

Invitations had been already sent to all near and dear ones. The function was to begin sharp at 6 pm. After 5.30 pm, the invited guests began to arrive. We all welcomed them and asked them to seat on the chairs. By 5.50 pm, all the invited guests had come. About 50 people were present. A big cake was already placed on the table and 10 candles were stuck into it. Exactly at 6, I escorted Pari to the table. She was dressed in a beautiful silk gown. I lighted the candles and she blew them out. As she cut the cake, the guests clapped, cheered and sang, "Many happy returns of the day!" and "Happy birthday to you!". Pari distributed pieces of the cake among the guests. Then her grandparents and the guests blessed her.

Then Pari received lots of birthday gifts. My gift to her was a famous novel by the renowned English writer, Sudha Murthy. Then sweet dishes and snacks were served to the guests. Cold drinks followed. After the refreshments, the guests started leaving, congratulating Pari again and again. We all felt very happy about the successful arrangement of the party.
