HOW TO CONVERT A COMPOUND SENTENCE INTO A COMPLEX SENTENCE AND VICE VERSA

Let's first understand the difference between a compound sentence and a complex sentence:

🔮Compound Sentence:
A compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions (such as and, butor) or by semicolons.

🔮Complex Sentence:
A complex sentence consists of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.
A dependent clause cannot stand alone as a complete sentence and relies on the independent clause for its meaning.

Now, let's convert a compound sentence into a complex sentence:

🔮Compound Sentence:
He went to the store, and he bought some groceries.

🔮Complex Sentence:
After he went to the store, he bought some groceries.

In this example, After introduces a dependent clause (After he went to the store), which is followed by the independent clause (he bought some groceries).
The dependent clause provides additional information about the timing or condition related to the action in the independent clause.
