Proverb: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."
Once upon a time, there was a farmer named Sukhi who had a small but thriving poultry farm. One day, while walking through the woods near his farm, he saw two beautiful birds perched on a bush. They were so captivating that Sukhi began dreaming of catching them and adding them to his collection.
Excited, Sukhi rushed back home, grabbed a net, and returned to the spot where he had seen the birds. He positioned himself quietly, waiting for the perfect moment to catch them. After a while, the birds flew down to the ground, hopping from one bush to another, picking berries and seeds.
Sukhi slowly approached, trying not to startle them. Just as he was about to cast his net, the birds sensed danger and flew away swiftly. Sukhi was left empty-handed, feeling disappointed.
Later that day, as he tended to his farm, Sukhi noticed his hens laying eggs. He collected them and realized that he already had something valuable - a bird (an egg) in his hand. This bird was certain, tangible, and could be used for nourishment or hatching more chickens.
The moral of the story is that sometimes, we are so focused on what we don't have (the birds in the bush) that we overlook the value of what we already possess (the bird in hand). It's a reminder to appreciate what we have and not be overly obsessed with what's out of reach.
