 THE HAUNTING FOOTPRINTS

     One evening, Amit was walking home when he noticed a strange set of footprints beside him in the wet mud, even though he was alone on the road. एका संध्याकाळी अमित घरी चालला होता, तेव्हा जरी तो त्या रस्त्यावर एकटाच होता त्याच्या बाजूला ओलसर मातीमध्ये एक विचित्र पावलांचे ठसे त्याला दिसले. At first, he thought it was just his imagination, but as he kept walking, the footprints continued, pacing alongside him. सुरुवातीला त्याला वाटले की तो फक्त त्याचा भ्रम आहे, पण जसजसा तो पुढे चालत गेला, पावलांचे ठसे त्याच्याबरोबरच चालत राहिले. Curious yet unnerved, Amit decided to follow them, which led him deeper and deeper into a dark forest. कुतूहलाने पण थोडासा घाबरून, अमितने त्या ठश्यांचा माग काढला, ज्यामुळे तो अधिकाधिक गडद जंगलात खोलवर गेला.
     Suddenly, the footprints stopped, and Amit found himself completely alone in the eerie silence. अचानक पावलांचे ठसे थांबले, आणि अमितला त्या भयावह शांततेत पूर्णपणे एकटा असल्याचे जाणवले. He decided to turn back, but as he took his first step, he noticed a fresh set of footprints trailing him from behind. त्याने मागे वळण्याचा निर्णय घेतला, पण जसेच त्याने पहिले पाऊल टाकले, त्याच्या मागे नव्याने ठसे दिसू लागले. Panic set in as he quickened his pace, yet the footsteps only grew louder, closing in with every step he took. घाबरून तो वेगाने चालू लागला, पण त्या ठश्यांचा आवाज अधिक जवळ येऊ लागला.
     Summoning all his courage, Amit spun around, ready to confront whoever—or whatever—was behind him. सर्व धैर्य एकवटून, अमित मागे वळला, कोणीतरी किंवा काहीतरी त्याच्या मागे आहे असे वाटून सामना करायला सज्ज झाला. But there was nothing there. Just as he let out a sigh of relief, he felt an icy hand grip his shoulder tightly. पण तिथे काहीच नव्हते. जसे त्याने सुटकेचा श्वास घेतला, त्याच वेळी त्याच्या खांद्यावर थंडगार हात घट्ट पकडून बसला. In that terrifying moment, Amit heard a whisper in his ear: “You should have never followed the footprints.” त्या भयानक क्षणी, अमितच्या कानात एक फुसफुस ऐकू आला: “तुला पावलांचा पाठलाग करायला नको होता.”
