A Conversation at the LIC Office – Inquiry About Maturity Claim

(Scene: Mr. Patil visits the LIC office and approaches the inquiry counter. The LIC officer, Mr. Desai, greets him.)

Mr. Patil: Good morning, Sir. शुभ सकाळ, सर. My LIC policy has matured, and I want to know the process for claiming the maturity amount. माझी LIC पॉलिसी पूर्णत्वास आली आहे, आणि मला परिपक्व रक्कम (मॅच्युरिटी अमाउंट) कशी मिळेल याची माहिती हवी आहे. Can you help me? कृपया तुम्ही मदत करू शकता का?

Mr. Desai: Good morning, Sir! शुभ सकाळ, सर! Yes, of course. नक्कीच. Please provide your policy number so that I can check the details. कृपया तुमचा पॉलिसी क्रमांक द्या, म्हणजे मी तपशील पाहू शकते.

Mr. Patil: My policy number is 987654321.
माझा पॉलिसी क्रमांक ९८७६५४३२१ आहे.

Mr. Desai: Let me check… Yes, your policy matured on 1st February 2025, and you are eligible to receive the maturity amount.

Mr. Patil: That’s great! What documents do I need to submit for the claim? छान! मला दावा करण्यासाठी कोणती कागदपत्रे सादर करावी लागतील?

Mr. Desai: You need to submit the following documents: तुम्हाला पुढील कागदपत्रे सादर करावी लागतील:
• Original policy bond मूळ पॉलिसी बॉन्ड
• Duly filled maturity claim form (Form 3825) योग्यरित्या भरलेला परिपक्वता दावा फॉर्म (फॉर्म ३८२५)
• A copy of your PAN card and Aadhaar card तुमच्या पॅन कार्ड आणि आधार कार्डची प्रत
• A cancelled cheque or bank passbook copy for payment transfer. रद्द केलेला चेक किंवा बँक पासबुकची प्रत पेमेंटसाठी
• NEFT mandate form for direct credit to your bank account. NEFT फॉर्म, जेणेकरून रक्कम थेट तुमच्या बँक खात्यात जमा होईल.

Mr. Patil: I have all these documents ready. माझ्याकडे ही सर्व कागदपत्रे तयार आहेत. Once I submit them, how long will it take to receive the amount?  मी ती सादर केल्यावर, मला पेमेंट मिळण्यास किती वेळ लागेल?

Mr. Desai: Once the documents are verified, the payment is usually processed within 7 to 15 working days. कागदपत्रे पडताळणी झाल्यानंतर, पेमेंट सहसा ७ ते १५ कामकाजाच्या दिवसांत प्रक्रिया केली जाते. You will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number. तुम्हाला नोंदणीकृत मोबाईल क्रमांकावर पुष्टीकरण संदेश मिळेल.

Mr. Patil: That’s good to know. हे जाणून आनंद झाला.  Is there any tax deduction on the maturity amount? मॅच्युरिटी रकमेवर कोणता कर वजा केला जातो का?

Mr. Desai: If your policy premiums were paid as per Section 10(10D) of the Income Tax Act, then the maturity amount is tax-free. जर तुमच्या पॉलिसीचे हप्ते कलम १०(१०डी) अंतर्गत भरले गेले असतील, तर मॅच्युरिटी रक्कम करमुक्त असेल.  However, if your premium exceeded 10% of the sum assured in any year, TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) may be applicable. पण, जर तुमचा हप्ता विमा रकमेच्या १०% पेक्षा जास्त असेल, तर TDS लागू होऊ शकतो.

Mr. Patil: Understood. Thank you for the information! I will submit my documents today. समजलं. माहितीबद्दल धन्यवाद! मी आजच माझी कागदपत्रे सादर करतो.
