Simple Present Tense + Simple Past Tense in Kitchen Chores

In daily life, we often describe general truths, habits, or routines along with past events. दैनंदिन जीवनात आपण सार्वत्रिक सत्ये, सवयी किंवा दिनचर्या तसेच भूतकाळातील घटना यांचे वर्णन करतो. In the kitchen, we follow certain practices regularly, but sometimes unexpected things happen. स्वयंपाकघरात काही कामे नेहमी केली जातात, पण कधीकधी अनपेक्षित घटना घडतात. By using Simple Present Tense and Simple Past Tense together, we can clearly express such situations. साधा वर्तमानकाळ आणि साधा भूतकाळ एकत्र वापरल्याने अशा परिस्थितींचे योग्य वर्णन करता येते.

1. General Truth + Past Event

• We boil milk every morning, but yesterday the gas was not working.
आम्ही दररोज दूध उकळतो, पण काल गॅस चालू नव्हता.
Explanation: "We boil milk" (Simple Present) describes a regular habit, while "the gas was not working" (Simple Past) refers to an issue that happened yesterday.

• Sugar dissolves in water, but last time I forgot to stir it.
साखर पाण्यात विरघळते, पण मागच्या वेळी मी ढवळायला विसरलो.
Explanation: "Sugar dissolves" (Simple Present) states a scientific fact, whereas "I forgot" (Simple Past) describes a past mistake.

• Salt enhances the taste of food, but last night I added too much.
मीठ अन्नाची चव वाढवते, पण काल रात्री मी जास्त घातले.
Explanation: "Salt enhances" (Simple Present) is a general truth, while "I added too much" (Simple Past) describes a mistake made last night.

• We use fresh ingredients, but last time the vegetables were not fresh.
आम्ही ताजे साहित्य वापरतो, पण मागच्या वेळी भाज्या ताज्या नव्हत्या.
