Simple Past with Simple Past Tense – Kitchen Chores

The kitchen is a place where many activities happen one after the other—washing, chopping, cooking, and serving. स्वयंपाकघरात अनेक कामे एकामागोमाग होतात—धुणे, चिरणे, शिजवणे आणि वाढणे.  When we talk about such actions that occurred in the past, one after the other, we use the Simple Past Tense for both actions.
जेव्हा अशा क्रिया भूतकाळात क्रमाने घडतात, तेव्हा त्या दोन्हींसाठी Simple Past Tense चा वापर करावा लागतो.

Key Points to Remember (लक्षात ठेवण्यासारख्या गोष्टी):
Both actions happened in the past. (दोन्ही क्रिया भूतकाळात घडतात.)
One action is completed before the next begins. (पहिली क्रिया पूर्ण झाल्यावर दुसरी सुरू होते.)
Use ‘and’ or ‘then’ to connect the actions. (क्रिया जोडण्यासाठी 'and' किंवा 'then' चा वापर करा.)

Explanation
When two actions happened one after the other in the past, both verbs are used in the Simple Past Tense. जेव्हा भूतकाळात दोन क्रिया एकामागोमाग घडतात, तेव्हा त्या दोन्हींसाठी Simple Past Tense वापरला जातो.  For example, first we chop vegetables, and then we cook them. उदाहरणार्थ, आपण आधी भाज्या चिरतो आणि मग भाजी शिजवतो.  Both actions are completed in sequence, so we use the Simple Past for both. दोन्ही क्रिया क्रमाने पूर्ण होतात, म्हणूनच दोन्हींसाठी भूतकाळातील क्रियापद वापरले जाते.  Words like and or then help to connect these actions.
या क्रिया जोडण्यासाठी and किंवा then यासारखे शब्द वापरले जातात.

Structure (रचना):
Subject कर्ता + Verb (Past) भूतकाळातील क्रियापद+ Object कर्म], [Subject कर्ता+ Verb (Past) भूतकाळातील क्रियापद + Object कर्म]

🍄 We boiled the potatoes and mashed them.
(आम्ही बटाटे उकडले आणि कुस्करले.)
→ The potatoes were boiled first, then mashed. Both actions happened in sequence.
→ आधी बटाटे उकडले गेले आणि त्यानंतर ते कुस्करले गेले. दोन्ही क्रिया भूतकाळात क्रमाने घडल्या.

🍄 They ground the spices and added them to the curry.
(त्यांनी मसाले वाटले आणि भाजीमध्ये घातले.)
→ First, the spices were ground, then added to the curry. Both actions are in the past.
→ आधी मसाले वाटले गेले आणि त्यानंतर भाजीमध्ये घातले गेले. दोन्ही क्रिया भूतकाळात घडल्या.

🍄 He prepared the salad and kept it in the refrigerator.
(त्याने सॅलड तयार केले आणि फ्रिजमध्ये ठेवले.)
→ The salad was prepared first, then kept in the fridge. Both verbs are in the past tense.
→ आधी सॅलड तयार केले गेले आणि त्यानंतर ते फ्रिजमध्ये ठेवले गेले. दोन्ही क्रिया भूतकाळात घडल्या.

🍄 My mother mixed the batter and poured it into the pan.

→ The batter was first mixed, then poured into the pan. Both actions happened in sequence.
