Movement vs Location 👇
🚉 Station Movement and Location
The word station can be used in two different ways.
• To show movement (going somewhere).
• To show location (being somewhere).
Let’s learn both with examples.
1) Movement (चालना दाखवणे)
When someone goes to the station, it means they are moving towards that place.
👉 The preposition to is used.
Example:
We went to the railway station to catch a train.
आम्ही ट्रेन पकडण्यासाठी रेल्वे स्टेशनवर गेलो.
📖 Explanation:
• We went = आम्ही गेलो (action of going → movement)
• to the railway station = रेल्वे स्टेशनवर (where we went)
• We went = आम्ही गेलो (action of going → movement)
• to the railway station = रेल्वे स्टेशनवर (where we went)
• to catch a train = ट्रेन पकडण्यासाठी (purpose)
So this sentence shows movement from one place to another.
So this sentence shows movement from one place to another.
2) Location (ठिकाण दाखवणे)
When someone is at the railway station, it means they are staying at that place.
👉 The preposition at is used.
Example:
We are waiting at the railway station.
आम्ही रेल्वे स्टेशनवर वाट पाहत आहोत.
📖 Explanation:
• We are waiting = आम्ही वाट पाहत आहोत (action happening now)
• at the railway station = रेल्वे स्टेशनवर (place of action)
So this sentence shows location – where the action is happening.
🎯 Key Point to Remember
• to the station → Movement (जाणे)
• at the station → Location (असणे)
