How to Use Still

Still means up to now / continuing from the past until now.
It shows that an action or situation has not stopped.
It is often used with Present Continuous or Present Simple.

📍 Placement of Still in Sentences with Explanation

1. Before the main verb (not “to be”)

🔮I still live in Mumbai.
Explanation: Still comes before the verb live to show the action continues up to the present.

2. After the subject but before “be verbs” (is, am, are, was, were)
🔮She is still waiting for the bus.
Explanation: Still is placed between the subject and is to show the action is continuing.

3. In Questions
🔮Do you still play cricket?
Explanation: Still is used before the main verb play to ask if the action continues.

4. At the beginning of a sentence (for emphasis, less common)
🔮Still, he refused to accept the offer.
Explanation: Still is used at the start for emphasis, meaning “even then / despite that.”
