2.2 Stories on Strings
Warm-up Activity: Talking Puppet

Teacher’s Instructions
The teacher says:
“Children, let us play a fun game! Sit in a circle and pass the ball while the music plays. When the music stops, the child holding the ball will speak a funny sentence as if the puppet is talking. Don’t be shy. Be creative, speak loudly and clearly, and have fun!”
Play some cheerful music and ask the learners to pass the ball to the learner sitting next to them.
Suddenly stop the music. The learner holding the ball gets a chance to speak.
The learner holds the puppet and speaks in its voice, saying a funny dialogue or sentence.

Examples of funny puppet dialogues:
  1. “Hello, friends! I am so hungry. Can I eat your homework?”
  2. “Oh no! I forgot to brush my teeth today!”
  3. “I am a clever puppet. I know everything, but I forget my own name!”
  4. “Please give me a holiday. I am tired of talking!”
  5. “Why do you go to school? Can I go to sleep instead?”
  6. “I love chocolates. Please don’t tell my mother!”
Start the music again and continue passing the ball. Stop the music at different intervals to give more learners a chance to speak.
Then, the teacher should encourage the learners to speak confidently, use their imagination, and express their ideas freely. The teacher should appreciate every attempt with claps and motivate shy learners to participate without fear.

Link to the Lesson: After the activity, the teacher can connect the learners’ responses to the topic of the lesson and introduce the lesson in an interesting way.

Learning Outcome: Learners develop speaking skills, creativity, confidence, and the ability to express themselves freely in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
