THE ACCIDENT I SAW मी पाहिलेला अपघात

 

     It was Monday. तो सोमवार होता. I was going to office in the morning. मी सकाळी ऑफिसला जात होतो. I was already late for office.  मला ऑफिसला जायला आधीच उशीर झाला होता.  So I was in a hurry. त्यामुळे मी घाईत होतो. I was waiting for the bus. मी बसची वाट पाहत होतो.  Just then I heard a loud noise. तेवढ्यात मला मोठा आवाज ऐकू आला. I looked back. मी मागे वळून पाहिलं. I saw a huge crowd standing around a bike, at the crossing. क्रॉसिंगवर बाईकभोवती मोठा जमाव उभा असलेला मी पाहिला. Out of curiosity, I rushed to the spot. उत्सुकतेपोटी मी घटनास्थळी धाव घेतली. It was an accident. तो एक अपघात होता.

     A small boy of about five, was knocked down by the bike. जवळपास पाच वर्षांचा लहान मुलगा दुचाकीने खाली कोसळला. He was injured and bleeding a little. तो जखमी होऊन त्याला थोडासा रक्तस्त्राव झाला. I learnt that the poor boy was begging. गरीब मुलगा भीक मागत असल्याचे मला कळले. The bike was coming fast. दुचाकी वेगाने येत होती. The boy was crossing the road.  मुलगा रस्ता ओलांडत होता.  When he saw the bike coming, he was confused. दुचाकी येताना पाहून तो गोंधळला. The bike rider could not stop the bike in time. दुचाकीस्वाराला वेळेत दुचाकी थांबवता आली नाही. The bike just brushed him a little and knocked him down. बाईकने त्याला थोडेसे घासले होते आणि त्याला खाली पाडले होते.

     Soon a big crowd gathered. काही वेळातच मोठा जमाव जमला. His mother came running from the nearby slum. जवळच्या झोपडपट्टीतून त्याची आई धावत आली. She started crying after seeing her injured son. जखमी मुलाला पाहून ती रडू लागली. A policeman also came there.  एक पोलीसही तिथे आला. We helped the injured boy to sit up. जखमी मुलाला आम्ही उठायला मदत केली. 

 We hired a taxi. आम्ही टॅक्सी भाड्याने घेतली. I paid the taxi's bill. मी टॅक्सीचे बिल भरले. We took him to the hospital. आम्ही त्याला दवाखान्यात नेले.

     At the hospital a doctor examined the boy.  रुग्णालयात डॉक्टरांनी मुलाची तपासणी केली.  He assured us that the wound was not serious.  जखम गंभीर नसल्याची त्यांनी ग्वाही दिली.  A nurse dressed his wound.  एका नर्सने त्याच्या जखमेवर मलमपट्टी केली. The doctor gave him two injections. डॉक्टरांनी त्याला दोन इंजेक्शन्स दिली.  Soon he felt comfortable.  लवकरच त्याला आराम वाटला.  The policeman paid the hospital's bill.  पोलिस कर्मचाऱ्याने हॉस्पिटलचे बिल भरले. I gave him a chocolate. मी त्याला एक चॉकलेट दिले. The boy's mother thanked us. मुलाच्या आईने आमचे आभार मानले.  We were happy to help the poor little boy. गरीब लहान मुलाला मदत करण्यात आम्हाला आनंद झाला.  Then I went to the office.  मग मी ऑफिसला गेलो.
