DAILY ENGLISH CONVERSATION - 13

A dialogue between a teacher and a student who has not done her homework.

Teacher : Ananya, why have you not submitted your homework for correction?

Student : I am sorry teacher. I was not able to complete my homework.

Teacher : Why Ananya? You had four whole days to write two essays. Surely the time was enough.

Student : Yes it was. But there was a medical emergency in my house last Thursday due to which all our schedules are a little haywire. 

Teacher : Oh! Is that so? What happened?

Student : Teacher, my granny suddenly became serious. We had to admit her in Fortis hospital. She will be there this entire week. My parents say I am too young to stay at home for several hours. That is why I have to accompany her to the hospital when I reach home from school.

Teacher : Oh I see.

Student : We return home by 8 pm. Then I try to study for the unit test.This is the reason I could not write these essays.

Teacher : Will you be able to complete your homework during the weekend

Student : Yes teacher. I will surely do that. Granny will be home by Tuesday morning. Then I will get enough time to complete for all the pending work. Teacher, thank you for understanding my difficulty.

Teacher : Its alright. Sit down.

Student : Thank you Teacher.
