USES OF THE PAST TENSE

🔴 Simple Past Tense

🟥 To talk about a habitual action done in the past

Saroj sang bhajans everyday. सरोज रोज भजन गायची.

🟥 To tell about an action which is completed.

Kittu broke this glass. किट्टूने ही काच फोडली.

🔴 Past Continuous Tense

🟥 To show an action that was going on for sometime in the past and was completed in the past itself.

Kinjal was preparing for the Medical entrance exam. this year. या वर्षी किंजल मेडिकल प्रवेश परीक्षेची तयारी करत होती.

🟥 To show an action while narrating a story in the past.

The deer was hiding behind the bushes. हरीण झुडपांच्या मागे लपत होते.

🔴 Past Perfect Tense

🟥 It is used to denote an action completed in the past before another action began.

The guests had left (Past Perfect) when we reached (Simple Past) home.

🔴 Past Perfect Continuous Tense

🟥 It expresses an action that had been going on for sometime in the past.

I had been learning French language since last year. गेल्या वर्षापासून मी फ्रेंच भाषा शिकत आहे.
