🪸 Compound preposition

When two or more words combine to do the work of a preposition, they are known as compound prepositions.

in addition to, in front of, according to, except for, together with, due to, on account of, next to, close to, near to, in view of

🪸 'between' and 'among'

The preposition 'between' relates the position of an object to a well-defined set of other objects.

Ashwin is sitting between Rushabh and  Kalpit.

The preposition 'among' relates to an indefinite number of objects.

He disappeared among the crowd.

🪸 'since' and 'for'

The preposition 'since' denotes a starting point in time.

I have known her since my school days.

The preposition 'for' denotes a period of time.

I have known her for a long time.
