Many words can be used as different Parts of Speech
If you are using a word as a noun, see that it is the subject, object or complement in the sentence.
1. Give your granny a helping hand. (Noun)
If you are using it as a verb, it should show some action, process, etc.
1. Hand me the basket, please. (Verb)
If you are using it as an adjective, put it before a noun as an attribute.
1. You can carry these things in your hand luggage. (Adjective)
Some words such as. 'hard', 'fast' and 'show' can be used as adjectives as well as adverbs.
If you want to use any of these words as an adjective, use them attributively before a noun or predicatively as a complement.
If you want to use them as an adverb, use them after a full verb.
Hard -
1. Iron is a hard metal. (Adjective)
2. Anish worked hard to earn money. (Adverb)
Fast -
1. I took the fast train. (Adjective)
2. She held fast to the chair. (Adverb)
Slow -
1. I travelled by the slow train. (Adjective)
2. Drive slow and be safe. (Adverb)
