COMPOUND WORDS - 2

A Compound Word is one that is made up of two or more words.

For example:-

The word bathroom is made up of the words bath and room.

There are many ways of making compounds.

A few ways are as follows:-

1. Noun + Noun

*tea + pot = tea pot, *sugar + factory = sugar factory

2. Gerund + Noun

*rolling + pin = rolling pin, *washing + machine = washing machine

3. Noun + Gerund

*kite + flying = kite-flying, *book + binding = book-binding

4. Adjective + Noun

*cold + cream = cold cream, *small + talk = small talk

5. Participle (ing) + Noun

*drinking + water = drinking water

*punching + machine = punching machine
