DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 'YES/NO' QUESTIONS AND 'QUESTION TAG'

YES/NO QUESTIONS 

In a Yes/No question, the speaker has no preconceived idea or notion. होय/नाही प्रश्नामध्ये, बोलणार्‍याला कोणतीही पूर्वकल्पना किंवा कल्पना नसते.

The speaker is simply seeking information.

बोलणारा फक्त माहिती घेत असतो. 

For example:

Do you know Indraprastha Park?

तुला इंद्रप्रस्थ पार्क माहीत आहे का?

Yes, I do. हो, मला माहित आहे. 

No, I don't. नाही, मला माहित नाही. 

The speaker has no idea.

बोलणार्‍याला काही कल्पना नसते.

The answer could be either 'Yes' or 'No'.

उत्तर 'होय' किंवा 'नाही' असे असू शकते.

QUESTION TAG?

In question tag, the speaker has preconceived idea and notion. 

मध्ये, स्पीकरला पूर्वकल्पना आणि कल्पना असते.

For example:

You know Indraprastha Park, don't you?तुला इंद्रप्रस्थ पार्क माहीत आहे, नाही का?

Yes, I do. हो, मला माहित आहे. 

The speaker believes that you know Indraprastha Park.

तुला इंद्रप्रस्थ पार्क माहीत आहे, असे बोलणार्‍याचे मत आहे.

The speaker wants to make sure that his/her ideas of notion is correct.

बोलणार्‍याला हे सुनिश्चित करायचे आहे की त्याच्या/तिच्या कल्पना बरोबर आहेत.

The speaker expects you to answer 'Yes'. तुम्ही 'होय' असे उत्तर द्यावे अशी बोलणाऱ्याची अपेक्षा असते.

You can answer 'No' if you don't know Indraprastha Park.

जर तुम्हाला इंद्रप्रस्थ पार्क माहित नसेल तर तुम्ही 'नाही' असे उत्तर देऊ शकता.
