There are some words which may introduce
A Noun Clause
An Adjective Clause
An Adverb Clause.
In such cases, in order to name the clause correctly, we must find out what work it does in the sentences.
Study carefully the following examples:
THAT ➡️
NOUN CLAUSE ➡️
🔺 Neema admitted that she had made a mistake.
Here the clause, that she had made a mistake, is the object of the verb admitted in the Main Clause.
It is therefore a noun clause.
ADJECTIVE CLAUSE ➡️
🔺 Neema admitted the mistake that she had made.
Here the clause, that she had made, qualifies the noun mistake in the Main Clause.
It is therefore an adjective clause.
(Here that = which)
ADVERB CLAUSE ➡️
🔺 Neema admitted the mistake that she might not be punished.
Here the clause, that she might not be punished, modifies the verb admitted in the Main Clause.
It is therefore an adverb clause. (Here that = in order that)
