There was a rich man. One day his laptop was missing. He looked for it everywhere, but without success. He suspected that one of his three servants had stolen it. He thought of a clever way to find out the thief.
He called the three servants to him. He gave each of them a long stick. The three sticks were of the same length. Then he said, "Look here, my men. One of you has certainly stolen my laptop. These sticks are magic sticks. The stick with the thief will be an inch longer tomorrow morning." He then allowed the servants to go with the sticks.
The servants left their master. Next morning, he called them and examined their sticks. One stick was shorter than the others by an inch. The thief was afraid that the stick would be an inch longer in the morning. So he had cut an inch off the stick. He expected the stick to grow by an inch and get it's original length by the morning!
Thus the thief was caught. He admitted his guilt and returned the laptop. The rich man pardoned him, but warned him not to steal again in future.
