ON + ING + PRESENT PARTICIPLE [ING]

The main subject should be taken only once. मुख्य कर्ता एकदाच घ्यावा. 

Add ing to the base form of an action verb on which another action depends.

ज्या क्रियेवर दुसरी क्रिया अवलंबून आहे अशा क्रियेच्या क्रियापदाच्या मूळ रुपास ing जोडावे. 

On can be placed at the beginning of a sentence or between two sentences. On हे वाक्याच्या सुरुवातीला वा दोन वाक्यांच्या मध्ये घेवू शकतो. 

Immediately, after, then, at which should be removed from the sentence.

वाक्यातील immediately, after, then, at which काढून टाकावे.

Examples:

1. I bought vegetables. Then I went to the bank. मी भाजी विकत आणली. मग मी बँकेत गेलो. (bought ➡️ buy + ing = buying)

Ans. On buying vegetables I went to the bank.

भाज्या विकत घेतल्यावर मी बँकेत गेले.

I went to the bank on buying vegetables. 

मी बॅंकेत भाज्या विकत घेतल्यावर गेले. 

2. As he bent down he saw a dead body inside the bushes. ( As bent ➡️ bend +ing = bending)

खाली वाकल्यावर त्याला झुडपात एक मृतदेह दिसला.

Ans. On bending down he saw a dead body inside the bushes.

खाली वाकल्यावर त्याला झुडपात एक मृतदेह दिसला.

He saw a dead body inside the bushes on bending down.

त्याला खाली वाकताना झुडपात एक मृतदेह दिसला.

3. Nima heard about the incident. She sent her men for help. (heard ➡️ hear + ing = hearing)

निमाला घटनेची माहिती मिळाली. तिने मदतीसाठी आपली माणसे पाठवली.

Ans. On hearing about the incident Nima sent her men for help.

घटनेची माहिती मिळताच निमाने आपल्या माणसांना मदतीसाठी पाठवले.

Nima sent her men for help on hearing about the incident.

निमाने आपली माणसे घटनेची माहिती मिळताच मदतीसाठी पाठवली.

3. Children would receive instructions. Then they would jump about or dance. (would ➡️ receive + ing = receiving)

मुलांना सूचना मिळत असत. मग ते उड्या मारायचे किंवा नाचायचे.

Ans. On receiving instructions children would jump about or dance.

सूचना मिळाल्यावर मुले उड्या मारतील किंवा नाचतील.

Children would jump about or dance on receiving instructions.

मुले सूचना मिळाल्यावर उड्या मारतील किंवा नाचतील.

4. Rim and Piyu started fighting. रिम आणि पियू भांडू लागले. They saw a toy. (saw ➡️ see + ing = seeing)

त्यांना एक खेळणे दिसले.

Rim and Piyu started fighting on seeing a toy.

रिम आणि पियू एक खेळणे पाहून भांडू लागले.

On seeing a toy Rim and Piyu started fighting.

एक खेळणे पाहून रिम आणि पियू भांडू लागले.

5. Himar heard the bad news. हिमरला वाईट बातमी ऐकली. He held his breath. (heard ➡️ hear + ing = hearing)

त्याने श्वास रोखून धरला.

Ans. On hearing the bad news Himar held his breath.

वाईट बातमी ऐकून हिमरने श्वास रोखून धरला.

Himar held his breath on hearing the bad news.

हिमरने वाईट बातमी ऐकून श्वास रोखून धरला.
