How to Identify Rhyme Schemes 1

Explanation

1. Rhymes and Rhyming words ➡️

Words in poetry that have the same ending sound are known as rhymes. कवितेतील शब्द ज्यांचा शेवटचा उच्चार समान असतो त्यांना यमक म्हणतात.

Look at the last words in bold letters in the following lines: खालील ओळींमधील शेवटचे शब्द ठळक अक्षरात पहा.

The Sun that shines all days so bright,

I wonder where he goes at night.

The words bright and night are rhymes. bright आणि night हे शब्द यमक आहेत.

2. Rhyme Schemes ➡️

When the last words of the lines in a poem rhyme according to a set pattern throughout the poem, it is known as the Rhyme Scheme. जेव्हा कवितेतील ओळींचे शेवटचे शब्द संपूर्ण कवितेत एका ठरलेल्या पॅटर्ननुसार यमक करतात, तेव्हा त्याला Rhyme Scheme म्हणून ओळखले जाते.

Generally the first rhyme is represented by the letter a, the second by the letter b,

the third by the letter c,

and so on. साधारणपणे पहिला यमक a अक्षराने दर्शविला जातो. दुसरा b अक्षराने दर्शविला जातो.

तिसरा c अक्षराने दर्शविला जातो.

Lines that don't rhyme are represented by different letters. यमक नसलेल्या ओळी वेगवेगळ्या अक्षरांनी दर्शवल्या जातात.

Examples:

1. RHYME SCHEME abab ➡️

When darkness lays the house to sleep [a]

And all the noisy world has stopped, [b]

Shadowed and soft the grey mice creep [a]

To find the crumbs that we have dropped. [b]


2. RHYME SCHEME aabb ➡️

While we are fast asleep in bed [a]

The sun must go, I've heard it said,[a]

To the other countries far away, [b]

To make them warm and bright and gay. [b]


3. RHYME SCHEME abcb ➡️

The whistle blew and off they went! [a]

Young hearts and hopes afire. [b]

To win and be the hero there [c]

Was each young boy's desire. [b]


4. RHYMING COUPLETS ➡️

I had never seen such a beautiful view;

Like a ray in my heart, right through and through

It passed like a fire and entered my mind

I thought it's so grand that I could go blind!
