There was once a lady who was very rich, but who was almost blind. Many doctors treated her, but the trouble only worsened. Then a new doctor came to that town. He was very famous eye-specialist.
The new doctor was sent for. He assured the lady complete cure in two months. She also promised to pay him a large fee.
There were many beautiful pieces of furniture and other rarely articles in the lady's house. The doctor was tempted to carry them away taking advantage of the near-blindness of the owner. He took the maid-servant into confidence and then started taking away some very costly and rare articles every time he visited the lady.
Then after two months the doctor told her that she was completely cured. The lady looked around her and said that she could not see many of her valuable things. "So you have not cured me of my trouble completely," she said to the doctor. "So I can't give you any fee," she concluded.
The doctor threatened legal action against her in the court of law. But the lady was firm and refused to pay his fee unless her articles were returned to her.
In the end the doctor realized that he had no other alternative but to return the articles he had secretly carried away from her house. He was forced to return her articles and save his reputation.
The lady dismissed the maid-servant for her part in the criminal game.
