Write a speech to be delivered at the valedictory function of the SSC students
The speaker is a head girl.
Respected Principal, teachers, and friends.
With great pleasure, I wish to express my views and sentiments on behalf of my fellow classmates.
I've mixed feelings. I am happy that the honor of speaking has been given to me as the head girl of the school. I am sad because parting is just a little away. Yes, “it's sweet sorrow!”
Well, before I become emotional and make you sentimental, let me take you down the memory lane. Years ago, we entered the portals of this esteemed institution as 3-year-old tots. We traversed from class to class, floor to floor, encountered teachers, support staff and 3 new Principals in a span of 12 years.
The school has nurtured us and turned us from saplings into banyan trees. The values, sports, academics extra-curricular activities, the house feasts, and annual days have been all memorable events. The lectures, guidance sessions, after-school extra classes, and even weekly tests and exams were unique in this institution.
Each one of us was involved in everything. Every activity was like a family function. With each event, we all grew. In fact, I would like to take the liberty of saying that the school gave us much more than the textbook of the Board or of the government. Formal and Informal education was well interwoven in our fabric and the rubrics were well planned.
On this Valedictory Day, I would like to thank the management, all the principals and teachers present, retired and those who are no more. I would like to give special thanks to the support staff and to our Maushi-bai and Mama. Their love and concern helped us to grow too! Thanks to you all.
Now for heartbreaking moments, leaving the Alma Mater after 12 long years is like the first flight out of the country – but with a difference. We have to go because we have to make room for a new generation to be groomed.
Yes, as gentlemen and future citizens, we will all march out holding aloft the banner of our institution!
Thank you and best of luck to you, friends. Let's all meet again as young professionals, achievers, and respectable individuals. Till then, may we all hope to have God's blessings in everything we do and have God guide us at all the crossroads of life.
Thank you, respected principals and teachers. We need your blessings. Thank you, friends. Let’s fly with wings of fire!
