Understanding Indirect Speech – Simple Future Tense

When changing Direct Speech to Indirect Speech in Simple Future Tense, we replace “will” with “would” and make necessary changes in pronouns and time expressions.

Formula:
Direct Speech:
Subject + reporting verb + “subject + will + base verb + object”
Indirect Speech:
Subject + reporting verb + (object) + that + subject + would + base verb + object

Examples:
• Direct: He said, “I will come home early.”
Indirect: He said that he would come home early.
तो म्हणाला की तो लवकर घरी येईल.

• Direct: She told me, “I will call you later.”
Indirect: She told me that she would call me later.
तिने मला सांगितले की ती मला नंतर फोन करेल.

• Direct: They said, “We will visit the temple tomorrow.”
Indirect: They said that they would visit the temple the next day.
त्यांनी सांगितले की ते दुसऱ्या दिवशी मंदिरात जातील.

• Direct: Ravi promised, “I will help you with your homework.”
Indirect: Ravi promised that he would help me with my homework.
रविने वचन दिले की तो मला माझ्या गृहपाठात मदत करेल.

• Direct: The teacher said, “You will get your results next week.”
Indirect: The teacher said that I would get my results the following week.
शिक्षकांनी सांगितले की मला पुढच्या आठवड्यात निकाल मिळेल.
