The Silent Bell

     Long ago, in a quiet village nestled between two hills, there was an ancient bell in the temple. खूप वर्षांपूर्वी, दोन टेकड्यांमध्ये वसलेल्या एका शांत गावात मंदिरात एक जुनी घंटा होती. It was said that this bell would ring on its own when someone performed a truly selfless act. असे सांगितले जात होते की, ही घंटा तेव्हाच आपोआप वाजते जेव्हा कोणी निस्वार्थपणे काहीतरी करते. But in all the years, no one had ever heard it ring. पण इतक्या वर्षांत कुणालाही ती वाजलेली ऐकू आली नव्हती.
     Many people tried. बर्‍याच लोकांनी प्रयत्न केले. Some gave money to the poor. काहींनी गरिबांना पैसे दिले. Others planted trees or donated food, all hoping the bell would ring. इतरांनी झाडे लावली किंवा अन्नदान केले, सर्वजण या आशेने की घंटा वाजेल. But it never did. पण ती कधीच वाजली नाही.
     One day, a young girl named Meera came to the temple. एके दिवशी मीरा नावाची एक लहान मुलगी मंदिरात आली. She didn’t know about the magical bell. तिला त्या जादुई घंटेबद्दल काहीच माहिती नव्हती. She had brought a small bowl of rice to offer to the temple because that was all her family had left. तिने देवाला अर्पण करण्यासाठी तांदळाचं एक छोटंसं भांडे आणले होते, कारण तिच्या कुटुंबाकडे तेवढेच उरले होते.
     On her way, she saw a starving dog lying by the path. रस्त्यात जात असताना तिला वाटेवर एक भुकेला कुत्रा पडलेला दिसला. Without thinking, Meera gave her only food to the dog. विचार न करता, मीराने आपले एकमेव अन्न त्या कुत्र्याला दिलं.
     She reached the temple empty-handed, bowed her head in prayer, and left quietly. ती मंदिरात रिकाम्या हाताने पोहोचली, नम्रपणे प्रार्थना केली आणि शांतपणे निघून गेली. As soon as she stepped away, the ancient bell rang loud and clear across the village. जशी ती तिथून निघाली, तसे त्या गावभर ती जुनी घंटा मोठ्याने आणि स्पष्टपणे वाजली.

     People rushed to the temple, amazed. लोक धावत मंदिरात आले, आश्चर्यचकित होऊन. “Who rang the bell?” they asked. त्यांनी विचारले,"घंटा कुणी वाजवली?" The priest smiled and said, “It was not someone’s riches or fame. पुरोहित हसला आणि म्हणाला, "ही कोणाच्या श्रीमंतीमुळे किंवा प्रसिद्धीमुळे वाजलेली नाही. It was a small act done with a big heart.” ती एका मोठ्या मनाने केलेली एक छोटी कृती होती."

Moral:
True kindness comes from the heart, not from show or expectation. खरी दयाळुता मनापासून येते, दिखावा किंवा अपेक्षा यांच्यामुळे नाही.
