Today, we are going to learn the poem Be the Best written by Douglas Malloch. आज आपण डग्लस मॅलॉक यांनी लिहिलेली Be the Best ही कविता शिकणार आहोत.
This poem teaches us to always do our best in whatever work we do. ही कविता आपल्याला कोणतेही काम सर्वोत्तम करण्यास शिकवते.

We should believe in ourselves and never compare ourselves with others. आपण स्वतःवर विश्वास ठेवावा आणि स्वतःची तुलना इतरांशी करू नये.
Stanza 1 - Main Idea

We should never feel inferior and always try to do our best in whatever we do.

आपण कधीही कमीपणा वाटून घेऊ नये आणि जे काही करतो ते सर्वोत्तम करण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा.

1. If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill,
If you cannot become a tall pine tree growing on top of a hill, do not feel disappointed.

2. Be a scrub in the valley – but be

4. Be a bush if you can’t be a tree.
If you cannot become a big tree, be a bush and perform your role well.

Stanza 2 - Main Idea
Even a small contribution is valuable, and we should always work with enthusiasm and sincerity. लहान योगदानही मोलाचे असते आणि आपण नेहमी उत्साहाने व प्रामाणिकपणे काम केले पाहिजे.
1. If you can’t be a bush be a bit of the grass,
If you cannot be a bush, be a small blade of grass. Even something small has its own value.
जर तुम्ही झुडूप बनू शकत नसाल, तर गवताचे एक छोटेसे पाते बना. लहान गोष्टीचेही स्वतःचे महत्त्व असते.
2. And some highway happier make;
Even a small patch of grass can make the roadside more beautiful and pleasant.

3. If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass –
If you cannot be a muskie, a large freshwater fish, then be a bass, another kind of freshwater fish. जर तुम्ही मस्की नावाचा मोठा गोड्या पाण्यातील मासा बनू शकत नसाल, तर बास नावाचा दुसऱ्या प्रकारचा मासा बना.
4. But the liveliest bass in the lake!

Stanza 3 – Main Idea
Everyone has a role to play, and we should respect all work and fulfil our responsibilities sincerely. प्रत्येकाची जीवनात स्वतःची भूमिका असते आणि आपण सर्व कामांचा आदर करून आपल्या जबाबदाऱ्या प्रामाणिकपणे पार पाडाव्यात.
1. We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew,
Everyone cannot be a captain or leader. Some people must work as members of a team.

2. There’s something for all of us here,

3. There’s big work to do, and there’s lesser, to do,

4. And the task you must do is the near.

Stanza 4 - Main Idea
We should believe in ourselves and do our best without comparing ourselves with others.

1. If you can’t be a highway then just be a trail,
If you cannot be a wide highway, be a small path. Even a small path can help people reach their destination. जर तुम्ही मोठा महामार्ग बनू शकत नसाल, तर छोटी पायवाट बना. छोटी पायवाटसुद्धा लोकांना त्यांच्या इच्छित ठिकाणी पोहोचण्यास मदत करते.
2. If you can’t be the sun be a star;
If you cannot shine like the sun, shine like a star. You can still give light in your own way.
जर तुम्ही सूर्याप्रमाणे चमकू शकत नसाल, तर ताऱ्याप्रमाणे चमका. तुम्ही तुमच्या परीने प्रकाश देऊ शकता.
3. It isn’t by size that you win or you fail –
Success or failure does not depend on how big or important you are. Your efforts and performance matter more.
