Most nouns form their plural by adding 's'.

अनेकवचन करताना एकवचनी नामाला s लावतात

But there are some special cases.

Nouns ending in s, ss, sh, ch, x form their plural by adding es -

एकवचनी नामाच्या शेवटी s, ss, sh, ch, x असल्यास अनेकवचन करताना es लावतात

bus - buses, glass - glasses, brush - brushes, church - churches, bench - benches

Nouns ending in o usually add s :

o शेवटी असलेल्या बऱ्याच नामांचे अनेकवचन s लावून जोडतात.

photo - photos, memo - memos, momo - momos, piano - pianos, 

kilo - kilos, studio - studios, solo - solos

But the following nouns ending in o add es :

परंतु पुढील नामांच्या शेवटी o  असल्याने अनेकवचन करताना es जोडतात.

hero - heroes, cargo - cargoes, mango - mangoes, tomato - tomatoes,

potato - potatoes

Nouns ending in a consonant + y change the y into ies :

एकवचनी नामाच्या शेवटी y असल्यास त्याचे अनेकवचन करताना y चे ies केले जाते.

baby - babies, fly - flies, lady - ladies, City - cities

Nouns ending in a vowel a,e,i,o,u + y add only s :

शेवटच्या y पूर्वी स्वर a,e,i,o,u असल्यास अनेकवचन करताना फक्त s जोडावे.

boy - boys,  day - days, key - keys, donkey - donkeys

The following nouns ending in f or re have ves in the plural :

एकवचनी नामाच्या शेवटी f किंवा fe असल्यास त्याचे अनेकवचन करताना f/fe काढून ves जोडतात.

calf - calves, half - halves, leaf - leaves, life - lives, knife - knives, 

self - selves, shelf - shelves, wife - wives, wolf - wolves

Most other words ending in f or fe add s in the plural.

f किंवा fe ने शेवट होणारे इतर बहुतेक शब्दांचे अनेकवचन करताना s जोडतात.

chief - chiefs, roof - roofs, cliff - cliffs, safe - safes, gulf - gulfs

proof - proofs, belief - beliefs

The nouns hoof and dwarf take either s or ves in the plural.

The following nouns form their plural irregularly.

man - men, woman - women, foot - feet, tooth - teeth, goose - geese

mouse - mice, louse - lice, ox - oxen, child - children

The singular of the following words is the same as the plural

खालील शब्दांचे एकवचन अनेकवचन सारखेच आहे

deer - deer, sheep - sheep, swine - swine, aircraft - aircraft, series - series

There are some nouns that are made up of two words. They are called compund nouns. Such nouns normally form their plural by changing the second part.

दोन शब्दांपासून बनलेली काही नामे आहेत. त्यांना संयुक्त नामे म्हणतात. अशा नामांचा सामान्यतः दुसरा भाग बदलून त्यांचे अनेकवचन बनवतात.

bedroom - bedrooms, armchair - armchairs, bookcase - bookcases

motorbike - motorbikes, weekend - weekends

But a few nouns like the following make the first part plural.

संयुक्त नामांचे अनेकवचन करताना त्यातील प्रमुख भागाचे अनेकवचन करतात.

mother-in-law = mothers-in-law

father-in-law = fathers-in-law

brother-in-law = brothers-in-law

sister-in-law = sisters-in-law

dozen, hundred, thousand, million दशलक्ष, billion अब्ज, score वीस, वीसचा संच या शब्दांचे अनेकवचन करता येते. परंतु हे शब्द संख्येसोबत वापरल्यास यांचे अनेकवचन करता येत नाही.

म्हणजे आपण hundreds of people शेकडो लोक बोलू शकतो. पण सहा शे लोक म्हणताना आपण six hundred people असे म्हणतो. six hundreds म्हणत नाही.
