INFORMAL LETTER - 5

A letter to your younger sister encouraging her to strive hard for success.

Your younger sister who is staying in a hostel has failed in the first semester examination. She is also so depressed that she is thinking of giving up studies altogether.

My dear Kavya,

     I was quite taken aback to learn that you have failed in the first semester examination.  तू पहिल्या सत्र परीक्षेत नापास झाली आहेस हे कळून मी खूप थक्क झाले.  But what shocks me even more is your decision to give up studies altogether.  पण मला आणखी धक्का बसला तो म्हणजे अभ्यास पूर्णपणे सोडून देण्याचा तुझा निर्णय ऐकून.  The very same Kavya who used to work so hard and top her class? ही तीच काव्या आहे जी इतकी मेहनत करून तिच्या वर्गात टॉप करायची?  

     If a girl like you gives up studies in this manner, then what should the rest of us do?  तुझ्या सारख्या मुलीने जर असा अभ्यास सोदून दिला तर बाकीच्यांनी काय करायचं?   You are refusing to meet the failure squarely in the face.  तू अपयशाला तोंड देण्यास स्पष्टपणे नकार देत आहेस.  Every failure has some causes to it.  प्रत्येक अपयशाला काही कारणे असतात.  Have you asked yourself why you have failed?  तू स्वतःला विचारले आहेस काय की तू का अयशस्वी झाली आहेस?  It could not be bad luck, of that I am sure.  हे दुर्दैव असू शकत नाही, याची मला खात्री आहे.  We are all with you.  आम्ही सर्व तुझ्या सोबत आहोत.
