🔴 A sentence consists of two parts.
🔴 Here are six examples in which two parts of each sentence are marked off.
🔴 The first part of each sentence names the person or thing we speak about. It is called the SUBJECT.
🟥 The second part says something about the person or thing named by the first. This is called the PREDICATE.
🔴 The Subject may be -
🟥 A Noun
🟥 Pronoun
🟥 A noun phrase.
🔴 The PREDICATE may be -
🟥 Verb alone
🟥 Verb + adverb
🟥 Verb + adverb phrase
🟥 Verb + object
🟥 Verb + complement
Examples :
1. The boy | cried. मुलगा | रडला.
The boy - Subject
The boy - Noun phrase
cried - Predicate
cried - Verb alone
2. Shree | sang sweetly. श्री|गोड गायली.
Shree - Subject
Shree - Noun
sang sweetly - Predicate
sang + sweetly - Verb + Adverb
3. The beggar | ran across the street. भिकारी | रस्त्याच्या पलीकडे पळाला.
The beggar - Subject
The beggar - a noun phrase
ran across the street - Predicate
ran + across the street - Verb + adverb phrase
4. She | ate two burgers. तिने | दोन बर्गर्स खाल्ले.
She - Subject
She - Pronoun
ate two burgers - Predicate
ate + two burgers - Verb + Object
5. This | is my bunglow. हा | माझा बंगला आहे.
This - Subject
This - Pronoun
is my bunglow - Predicate
is + my bunglow - Verb + Complement
6. The food | is hot. अन्न | गरम आहे.
The food - Subject
The food - Noun phrase
is hot - Predicate
is + hot - Verb + Complement
