TRANSITIVE VERBS सकर्मक क्रियापदे | INTRANSITIVE VERBS अकर्मक क्रियापदे

A verb is an action word used for saying something about some person or thing.

Verbs are of two main types :

1. Transitive Verbs

A verb is transitive if the action does not stop with the agent (doer) but passes from the agent to something else.

Examples :

1. The class teacher scolded Divesh. वर्ग शिक्षकांनी दिवेशला दम दिला.

In this sentence, the action of 'scolding' passes from the agent 'The class teacher ' to 'Divesh'.

2. Neena broke the chair. नीनाने खुर्ची तोडली.

In this sentence, the action of 'breaking' passes from the agent 'Neena' to 'the chair'.

The words Divesh and chair are called the objects and the verbs scolded and broke are Transitive Verbs.

3. Nishant ordered two burgars. निशांतने दोन बर्गर्स मागवले.

In this sentence, the action of 'ordering' passes from the agent 'Nishant' to 'two burgars'.

Transitive Verb - ordered, Object - two burgers 

4. Akruti watered the plants. आकृतीने झाडांना पाणी घातले.

In this sentence, the action of 'watering' passes from the agent 'Akruti' to 'the plants'.

Transitive Verb - watered, Object - the plants

5. Radhika punished Riya. राधिकाने रियाला शिक्षा केली.

In this sentence, the action of 'punishing' passes from the agent 'Radhika' to 'Riya'.

Transitive Verb - punished, Object - Riya

6. My father solved the puzzle. माझ्या बाबांनी कोडे सोडवले.

In this sentence, the action of 'solving' passes from the agent 'My father' to 'the puzzle'.

Transitive Verb - solved, Object - the puzzle

7. I opened the main gate. मी मुख्य दरवाजा उघडला.

In this sentence, the action of 'opening' passes from the agent 'I' to 'the main gate'.

Transitive Verb - opened, Object - the main gate 

8. Arya and Tiya plucked these flowers. आर्या आणि तियाने ही फुले खुडली.

In this sentence, the action of 'plucking' passes from the agent 'Arya and Tiya' to 'these flowers'.

Transitive Verb - plucked, Object - these flowers 

9. Pari cut the cake. परीने केक कापला.

In this sentence, the action of 'cutting' passes from the agent 'Pari' to 'the cake'.

Transitive Verb - cut, Object - the cake  

10. Soumya and Shree arranged this picnic. सौम्या आणि श्रीने ही सहल आयोजित केली.

In this sentence, the action of 'arranging' passes from the agent 'Soumya and Shree' to 'this picnic'.

Transitive Verb - arranged, Object - this picnic

2. Intransitive Verbs

The verb is Intransitive when the action stops with the agent and does not pass from the agent to anything else.

Examples :

1. Nisarg goes to the market. निसर्ग बाजारात जातो.

In this sentence, the action of going stops with the agent 'Nisarg' and does not pass to anything else.

2. Rounak reached there on time. रौनक तेथे वेळेवर पोहोचला.

In this sentence, the action of reaching stops with the agent Rounak and does not pass to anything else.

The verbs such as goes and reached which don't need objects to make full sense are called Intransitive Verbs.

3. Nachiket fell on the road.

In this sentence, the action of falling stops with the agent Nachiket and does not pass to anything else.

4. Maya sat on the bench. माया बेंचवर बसली. 

In this sentence, the action of sitting stops with the agent Maya and does not pass to anything else.

5. Netra came here yesterday. नेत्रा इथे काल आली.

In this sentence, the action of coming stops with the agent Netra and does not pass to anything else.

6. Her ring fell in the river. तिची अंगठी नदीत पडली.

In this sentence, the action of falling stops with the agent Her ring and does not pass to anything else.

7. Nirmalya walked fast. निर्माल्य भरभर चालला.

In this sentence, the action of walking stops with the agent Nirmalya and does not pass to anything else.

8. Kriva ran towards the railway station. क्रिवा रेल्वे स्टेशनच्या दिशेने धावली

In this sentence, the action of running stops with the agent Kriva and does not pass to anything else.

9. Yogini answers quickly. योगिनी लगेच उत्तरे देते.

In this sentence, the action of answering stops with the agent Yogini and does not pass to anything else.

10. They came here before me. ते इथे माझ्या अगोदर आले.

In this sentence, the action of coming stops with the agent They and does not pass to anything else.
