HOW WE DID HOUSE PAINTING

     Last month my father said we should paint our house ourselves. मागच्या महिन्यात माझे वडील म्हणाले की आपण आपलं घर स्वतः रंगवायला हवं. It would save a lot of money and it would be fun. खूप पैसे वाचतील आणि मजा येईल.

     We decided to work on Saturdays and Sundays. आम्ही शनिवारी आणि रविवारी काम करायचे ठरवले. Ours is a small one bhk. आमचा एक लहान बीएचके आहे. I wanted the bedroom to be painted purple. मला बेडरूमला जांभळा रंग हवा होता. Father selected yellow shade for the living room. वडिलांनी दिवाणखान्यासाठी पिवळा रंग निवडला. My mother chose grey for the kitchen. माझ्या आईने स्वयंपाकघरसाठी राखाडी रंग निवडला.

     Father brought the paints, three paint brushes, some sand papers and some putty. वडिलांनी पेंट्स, तीन पेंट ब्रश, काही सॅन्ड पेपर आणि काही पुट्टी आणली. We decided to do one room at a time. आम्ही एका वेळी एक खोली करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. First the bedroom, then the living room and last of all the kitchen. आधी बेडरूम, मग लिव्हिंग रूम आणि सगळ्यात शेवटी स्वयंपाकघर. We moved the furniture to the centre of the rooms and covered it with old bedshreets and old sarees. आम्ही फर्निचर खोलीच्या मध्यभागी हलवले आणि जुन्या बेडशीट्स आणि जुन्या साड्यांनी झाकले. We scraped the walls clean with sand papers. आम्ही सॅंड पेपर्सनी भिंती स्वच्छ केल्या. We removed the old paint and made the walls smooth. आम्ही जुना पेंट काढला आणि भिंती गुळगुळीत केल्या.

     Then we patched up the cracks and holes in the walls with putty. मग आम्ही पुट्टीने भिंतींमधील भेगा आणि छिद्रे भरली. First we applied a coat of primer and then applied the selected paint with the brushes. प्रथम आम्ही प्राइमरचा कोट लावला आणि नंतर ब्रशने निवडलेला रंग लावला. We used oil paint for the doors and windows. आम्ही दरवाजे आणि खिडक्यांसाठी ऑइल पेंट वापरला. The first coat of paint on the walls looked rather uneven and we thought we had made some mistake. भिंतीवरील पेंटचा पहिला कोट खूपच असमान दिसत होता आणि आम्हाला वाटले की आम्ही काही चूक केली आहे. But when the second coat was applied the walls began to look beautiful. पण दुसरा कोट लावल्यावर भिंती सुंदर दिसू लागल्या.

     The work took us four whole days and we were all very tired at the end of it. या कामात आम्हाला चार दिवस लागले आणि शेवटी आम्ही सगळेच थकलो होतो. But we were happy too. पण आम्हीही खुश होतो. Our house looked very beautiful. आमचे घर खूप सुंदर दिसत होते.
