When we use the exactly words of the speaker, in writing/speaking, it is known as 'Direct Speech'. The same words reported, as if to a third person, are known as 'Indirect Speech' or 'Reported Speech'.

ASSERTIVE SENTENCES/STATEMENT
1. Trusha said, "I have to go to the mall." (Direct Speech)
Trusha said that she had to go to the mall. (Indirect Speech)
2. Disha says, "I am very busy." (Direct Speech)
Disha says that she is very busy. (Indirect Speech)
3. Rukmi said to Sushi, " I have brought fresh fruits." (Direct Speech)
Rukmi told Sushi that she had brought fresh fruits. (Indirect Speech)
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES [Wh- questions]
4. Jeet said to Soumya, "Why are you sitting here?" (Direct Speech)
Jeet asked Soumya why she was sitting there. (Indirect Speech)
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES [Yes-No questions/Verbal questions]
5. Manan said to Giri, " Will you give me breakfast?" (Direct Speech)
Manan asked Giri if she would give him breakfast. (Indirect Speech)
EXCLAMATORY SENTENCES
1. Bruvi said, " How beautiful Roha is!" (Direct Speech)
Bruvi exclaimed that Roha was very beautiful. (Indirect Speech)
2. Miru said, "What a beautiful saree it is!" (Direct Speech)
Miru exclaimed that it was a very beautiful saree.
IMPERATIVE SENTENCES
1. Shirin said to Kivi, "Don't go outside." (Direct Speech)
Shirin told Kivi not to go outside. (Indirect Speech)
2. Mohari said to Fumi, "Please sit beside me."(Direct Speech)
Mohari requested Fumi to sit beside her. (Indirect Speech)
3. Aakar said to Nupur, "Go to the bank." (Direct Speech)
Aakar ordered Nupur to go to the bank. (Indirect Speech)
4. Hiru said to Vipra, "Let's play chess." (Direct Speech)
Hiru suggested Vipra that they should play chess. (Indirect Speech)
