DIRECT TO INDIRECT SPEECH | REPORTED SPEECH - 2

General Rules for changing Direct Speech to Indirect Speech/ Reported Speech

1. Omit all inverted comma. End all sentences with full stop.

2. Use Verbs in the Past or Past Perfect Tenses, unless the reported clause expression a universal truth or a habitual activity.

3. Use pronouns in the third person such as 'he, him, she, her, it, its, they, them, their, etc'.

4. Make the following changes :

this - that,

these - those,

here - there,

now - then,

today - that day,

yesterday - the day before, the previous day,

tomorrow - the next day, the following day.
