REPORT WRITING - THE ELEPHANTA CAVES

December 18 : 

     Our class went for a picnic to the Elephanta caves on Saturday, the 18th of December. आमचा वर्ग शनिवारी, 18 डिसेंबर रोजी एलिफंटा लेण्यांमध्ये सहलीसाठी गेला होता. At 7.30 a.m., we left our school by bus to go to the Gateway of India. आम्ही सकाळी 7.30 वाजता गेटवे ऑफ इंडियाला जाण्यासाठी बसने आमच्या शाळेतून निघालो. We reached there at 9. आम्ही ९ वाजता तिथे पोहोचलो. Our ferry had been booked and we went by three boats to the island. आमची फेरी बुक झाली होती आणि आम्ही तीन बोटींतून बेटावर गेलो. It took almost an hour to reach there. तिथपर्यंत पोहोचायला जवळपास एक तास लागला. The ferry boat trip was breezy and enjoyable. फेरी बोटचा प्रवास हवेशीर आणि आनंददायी होता.

     We saw a large stone elephant at the entrance, which gave the island its name. आम्ही प्रवेशद्वारावर मोठा दगडी हत्ती पाहिला, ज्याचे बेटाला त्याचे नाव दिले आहे. We saw many monkeys at the entrance. प्रवेशद्वारावर आम्हाला अनेक माकडे दिसली. Our teachers bought tickets. आमच्या शिक्षकांनी तिकिटे विकत घेतली. We climbed a hundred steps to reach the caves. शंभर पायऱ्या चढून आम्ही लेण्यांपर्यंत पोहोचलो. We were given light refreshment by the teachers. शिक्षकांनी आम्हाला हलकासा नाश्ता दिला. There were three entrances to the caves. लेण्यांना तीन प्रवेशद्वार होते. As we entered, the first statue we saw was of Trimurti. आत प्रवेश करताच आम्ही पहिली मूर्ती पाहिली ती त्रिमूर्तीची मूर्ती. We spent most of the morning visiting three of the caves. सकाळचा बराचसा वेळ आम्ही तीन गुहा पाहण्यात घालवला. There were a number of stone statues and carvings on the walls. अनेक दगडी मूर्ती आणि भिंतींवर कोरीव काम केले होते. The wonder of the caves is that everything has been carved out of a single rock by hand, with the use of very simple tools. लेण्यांचे आश्‍चर्य असे की, अगदी साध्या साधनांचा वापर करून सर्व काही एकाच खडकात हाताने कोरले गेले आहे. I liked best the statue of Shiva at the Southern end. मला दक्षिणेकडील शिवाची मूर्ती सर्वात जास्त आवडली. We played with monkeys. आम्ही माकडांबरोबर खेळलो. We gave them grams and bananas. आम्ही त्यांना हरभरे आणि केळी दिली.

     In the afternoon, we had lunch in the canteen. आम्ही दुपारी कॅन्टीनमध्ये जेवण केले. We took rest for ten minutes. आम्ही दहा मिनिटे विश्रांती घेतली. Then we went to see the final cave. मग आम्ही शेवटची गुहा बघायला निघालो. We left the place by five in the evening. संध्याकाळी पाचच्या सुमारास आम्ही तिथून निघालो. By six we were at the Gateway. सहापर्यंत आम्ही गेटवेवर होतो. We spent some time there watching ships and photo shoots. आम्ही तिथे काही वेळ जहाजे पाहण्यात आणि फोटोशूट करण्यात घालवला. Then we went back to our school by bus. मग आम्ही बसने परत आमच्या शाळेत गेलो. Our parents were waiting at the school. आमचे पालक शाळेत वाट पाहत होते. Then we went home. मग आम्ही घरी गेलो. It was a memorable trip indeed. ती खरच एक अविस्मरणीय सहल होती.
